The PLAN CINCINNATI Process

The total Planning Process is projected to take approximately 24 months, and will follow these steps:

COMMUNITY INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS - Four Community Informational Meetings were held in the Fall of 2009. These introductory meetings outlined the Planning Process, gathered public input, and encouraged attendance at the Neighborhood Summit. Over 430 people attended these meetings.

NEIGHBORHOOD SUMMIT, February 26-27, 2010 - The objective of the Neighborhood Summit was to begin to finalize goals and identify actions steps for the major elements of the Plan. Additionally, working groups are created for each Plan Element.

WORKING GROUPS - Following the Neighborhood Summit, Working Groups comprised of local experts, stakeholders, community members, and other interested parties will meet to develop and evaluate strategies for each goal under each Plan Element. While each Group may work at its own pace, all will follow a common process with a projected completion date of Fall 2010.

PRIORITIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION MEETING - In the Winter of 2011, the strategies recommended by the Working Groups will be presented and discussed at a large public meeting. The goal of this meeting is to find consensus on, and prioritization of, the Plan’s Goals, Strategies, and Implementation partners.

FINALIZATION, SUBMITTAL, AND APPROVAL - Working Groups will transition to Implementation Groups to continue to refine strategies and seek collaboration with implementation partners. In the Winter 2011, City staff will prepare a draft Plan that will be shared with other City departments, Working/Implementation Groups, and the Steering Committee. Final editing and preparation of a proposed Plan for submittal to the City Manager and City Council will take place by early 2011. Final Public Hearings before the City Planning Commission and City Council and adoption of the Plan is proposed for 2011.
